On October 28, 2023, free ophthalmological examinations were offered by Lions Eye Diabet Clinic – Tbilisi, Georgia for the veterans of war and defense forces. The 15th charity event was organized by the State Service of Veterans Affairs as a part of a memorandum of cooperation in cooperation with the Department of Eye Diseases of Tbilisi State Medical University.
75 beneficiaries of the Service enjoyed the charity medical event in which a group of 12 highly equipped qualified doctors (ophthalmologists, endocrinologists) participated. 122 visits were paid to veterans and their family members, and 120 glasses were provided for free.
Valerian Dzebisashvili, the head of the Social Affairs and Accounting-Analytical Department of the State Service of Veterans Affairs, Vazha Dalakishvili, Specialist of the Regional Management Department of the Service, Zviad Sabashvili, the head of the Regional Management Department of the Service of Shida Kartli Division, got acquainted with the progression of the event on the spot.
The memorandum of cooperation between the State Service of Veterans Affairs and Lions Eye Diabet Clinic – Tbilisi, Georgia was signed for the first time in 2016 and is renewed annually.
Lions Eye Diabet Clinic – Tbilisi, Georgia conducted 15 charity medical events throughout the country in 2023. Within the framework of the event, qualified free ophthalmic services were rendered to 1579 beneficiaries of the Service. In addition, a wide range of microsurgical operations were performed for free. Veterans and their family members were also given 2,331 free glasses.
Within the framework of the memorandum of cooperation signed with different medical institutions, charity medical events will be held for veterans and their family members throughout Georgia, regarding which the veterans will be notified in advance.
