Koba Kobaladze met with Stephen Lieberman at the US State Department of Veterans Affairs

General Major Koba Kobaladze, Director of the State Service of Veteran Affairs, held a meeting with Steven Lieberman, Deputy Secretary of Denis Richard McDonough for Health Affairs, at the US State Department of Veterans Affairs.

The meeting was held as a part of Major General Koba Kobaladze’s working visit to the United States of America. The information about this is spread by the State Service of Veteran Affairs.

According to the reports, Koba Kobaladze talked about the structure, goals, future plans, the joint programs of the Service with the host that the Service implements together with the state and the non-governmental sector to support veterans and family members of those killed in the war.

“Koba Kobaladze meticulously talked about the military operations that have been carried out in Georgia in the last 30 years. He also emphasized the importance of the selfless and exemplary battles that Georgian fighters waged in Abkhazia, Samachablo and in the August war 2008 against Russian regular troops.

The hosts paid special attention to the psycho-rehabilitation programs of veterans, and in this regard, they shared their experience with the delegation of the State Service of Veteran Affairs and promised provision of assistance and support.

The parties agreed on future close cooperation, which will contribute to the improvement of the psycho-social conditions of Georgian veterans. Koba Kobaladze invited Steven Lieberman to Georgia so that he could learn about the needs of Georgian veterans.

It is noteworthy that the delegation of the State Service of Veteran Affairs is hosted by the Georgian Embassy in the United States of America. It has also organized the meetings of the delegation, for which the State Service of Veteran Affairs thanks the Embassy of Georgia.

Stephen Lieberman has been leading the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) since 2021. Previously, he served as Assistant Secretary for Health Affairs, who led the strategic direction of health care and oversaw access to health care services for veterans.

The meeting was attended by Irakli Chanturidze, Deputy Head of the Legal Assurance Department of the State Service of Veteran Affairs, Mariam Adamashvili, Head of the Protocol Department, Paata Patiashvili, Senior Counselor of the Embassy of Georgia in the United States of America, and John Boerstler, Chief Veteran Affairs Officer of the US State Department of Veterans Affairs.
