Lions Eye Diabet Clinic – Tbilisi launched another charity campaign for the veterans of war living in Sighnaghi

On November 18, 2023, Lions Eye Diabet Clinic – Tbilisi organized the consecutive 17th free ophthalmological examinations for the veterans of war and defense free and their families living in Sighnaghi Municipality, Village of Vakiri in cooperation with the Department of Eye Diseases of Tbilisi State Medical University. The event was organized by the State Service of Veterans Affairs in frames of a memorandum of cooperation.

A team of 12 qualified doctors (ophthalmologists, endocrinologists) equipped with the  latest model appliances participated in the charity campaign. 86 beneficiaries of the Service enjoyed the services rendered by the medical clinic. 272 glasses were given to the veterans and their family members for free.

The progression of the campaign was visited by Vazha Dalakishvili, representative of the social issues and accounting-analytical department of the State Service of Veterans Affairs, Tamaz Kalatozishvili, head of the regional management department, Kakheti division, Gocha Vardiashvili, deputy mayor of Sighnaghi Municipality, Lia Bakashvili, head of the Social Service of the City Hall, and majority deputy Nana Nanobashvili.

The memorandum of cooperation between the State Service of Veterans Affairs and Lions Eye Diabet Clinic – Tbilisi was initially signed in 2016 and is renewed annually.

Lions Eye Diabet Clinic – Tbilisi conducted 17 charity campaigns throughout the country in 2023.  The free ophthalmological services were provided to 1,840 beneficiaries of the Service. In addition, a wide range of microsurgical operations were performed for free, and 1,783 glasses were given to the veterans and their family members at no cost.

Within the framework of the existing memoranda with different medical institutions, charity campaigns targeted to veterans and their family members will be organized throughout Georgia, regarding which they will be notified in advance.
